The dance of the Orixás and the encounter with oneself
Community at Candomblé is a special experience. The experience of the sacred is omnipresent and begins with the salutation on the sacred ground - the divine in me salutes the divine in you.
In Candomblé, man is summoned by the Orixás. He cannot "register" for an initiation. In a 7-year cycle, he hands over his spiritual guidance to the "gods", so-called Orixás, the deities of the head. After the completion of the 7 years, the human receives the empowerment to see "through the eyes of the Orixás". He merges with them. Inner and outer leadership coincide, man is grown up.
The exchange rituals are among the magically powerful rituals in Candomblé. Based on the findings of the shell oracle "Jogo de Búzios" or the old "Oracle of Ifá", these very powerful rituals serve to harmonize inner balance.
The Orixás represent the hundreds of forms of consciousness in the universe. Everything is connected and everything has its own consciousness. Love, power, ancestors, plants, healing, everything is energy and everything is consciousness. These energies are activated in people through rituals and above all through dances in the so-called Xire. These "divine parts" in man "blossom" when called upon. Orixá means "lord of the head". The dance of the Orixás serves to connect people with the divine parts. Music at Candomblé is dance, celebration, invocation and healing at the same time.
Ancestor worship is deeply rooted in the candomblé tradition. The ancestors cast the light and the shadow on the following generations.
The cult of the Iyami is reserved for women. The Orixá Oxum is the leader of the cult, and the egg is its strongest symbol. The mysterious rituals of the Iyami are as feared as they are powerful.
